Windsor
is located about ten miles east of the capital city of Augusta on Highway 105. From this location, it is convenient to both central Maine and the mid coast region. The town of Windsor is small (population 2200) but the list of places to see and things to do is endless - depending on which direction you go and what your particular interests include. Less than ten miles from Windsor puts you in the heart of the China Lakes Region, which includes China Lake, Three-Mile Pond and Branch Pond. Fishing is excellent in the lakes, especially for landlocked salmon, white perch and small mouth bass. Other recreational activities in the area include swimming, boating, canoeing, hiking, biking and snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the wintertime. The picturesque countryside surrounding Windsor is perfect for sightseeing and antiquing. You can base your vacation in the quiet, uncrowded village of Windsor, and enjoy a variety of day trips to places such as Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta and Penobscot Bay. Other nearby attractions include Reed State Park, Popham Beach, Camden Hills State Park, Lake Cobbossee and the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport.

The south-central portion of Maine, just north of Augusta, has four delightful seasons with spectacular foliage in the autumn months. The overall climate is moderate with summer daytime temperatures in the 70s and low 80s, and cool nights. Winters are cold but usually not frigid. Spring and autumn are mild during the day, with crisp, cool nights. The really cold weather begins arriving around the end of November with January and February generally having the lowest temperatures. Below zero temperatures are possible, but not the norm. Accumulating snow is a possibility into March and early April, but the warmer days of spring generally means it melts fast. Rain can occur anytime of the year.
