Sargentville
is a village that is located within the town of Sedgwick in Hancock County on the Penobscot Bay. It is approximately 20 miles from Ellsworth, Maine. The community of Sedgwick was named for Major Robert Sedgwick, a soldier in the French and Indian Wars. For history buffs, a visit to the Sedgwick-Brooklin Historical Society Museum is a worthwhile pursuit. The countryside around Sargentville is popular with birdwatchers and is home to many granite quarries. The village also has several lovely bed and breakfast inns and makes a peaceful retreat for visitors. As part of Hancock County, Sargentville offers all the romance and adventure of the Bar Harbor area. The scenery includes a rocky coastline and soaring granite cliffs and lush, tree-lined roads leading to quaint villages and charming hamlets. Acadia National Park is just a short drive from Sargentville, nestled on the east side of Mt. Desert Island. Nearby Blue Hill Bay is popular with kayakers and other recreational opportunities nearby include swimming, boating and fishing, biking, hiking and golf. The area around Sargentville is also filled with fine restaurants, antique stores, art galleries and specialty shops.

"Downeast Maine," along the Atlantic Seacoast, has a variable climate that can change quickly at any time. This area, which includes the Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island, has four distinct seasons where summer temperatures can range from 45 degrees F to 85 degrees F. Fog is quite common during the summer months, as well, but there is also plenty of sunshine. Spring and fall temperatures vary from 30 degrees F to 70 degrees F. You may also encounter rain in any month, and ice storms are regular in the winter and early spring. The Maine coastal climate is ranked second to only the Pacific Northwest in annual precipitation. Average annual rainfall is 48 inches and average annual snowfall is 61 inches. Snow tends to melt quickly along the coast - more continuous snow can be found inland.
