Machiasport
, along with its' sister cities of Machias and East Machias, is located in remote Washington County, which is the first place in the country to see the sunrise every morning. The little town of Machiasport sits on the edge of Machias Bay near the Grand Manan Channel along the Atlantic Ocean. Machiasport is also near the Bar Harbor area and Campobello Island. The list of things to do here is endless. There are scenic, uncrowded beaches composed of ocean-washed pebbles, perfect for hiking and beachcombing. The half-mile long white sand beach at Roque Bluffs State Park is great for swimming and sunbathing. Roque Bluffs also contains a 20-acre freshwater pond that is popular with children for wading and swimming. The Machias River and East Machias River meet the ocean at Machias Bay, which is an area popular with canoeists and kayakers, and an excellent fishing spot for brook trout, landlocked salmon, bass and pickerel. Other activities in the Machiasport area include rock combing, biking, lighthouse boat excursions, and golf, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and snowmobiling. Also, nearby Cobscook Bay offers boating and sea kayak tours, along with hiking and camping. In August of every year, the town of Machias hosts an annual Wild Blueberry Festival, with a blueberry cooking contest, parade, arts and crafts fair, blueberry pie eating contest and more.

Machiasport Weather & Climate
The easternmost area of the United States is Washington County, Maine, which is also one of the most remote areas of Maine. There are four seasons, although summers are very mild and air conditioning is not necessary in this part of the state. The greatest rise and fall of tides on the shores of the continental U.S. occur along the Washington County coastline, and it is the first place in the country to see the sunrise each day. The Maine coastal climate receives lots of precipitation - in every form. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month of the year. The average annual rainfall is 48 inches and the average annual snowfall is 61 inches. Snow does not stay on the ground as long along the coast as it does further inland and in northern Maine. There are plenty of clear, sunny days in summer and fall, followed by crisp, cold nights. Fog is common during June, July and August.
