Clinton
is a small town located in northern Kennebec County in the south-central portion of Maine. Known as "The Diary Capital of Maine," Clinton has a population of 3,340 residents. It is 77 miles northeast of Portland, 10 miles northeast of Waterville and just a short drive to Augusta, Maines capital city. Clinton is a farming and suburban community with one of the largest dairy herds in the state. There is a small commercial downtown area, conveniently located about one mile from the I-95 Interchange. The Sebasticook River runs right through the town of Clinton, and this and other area rivers offer an abundance of recreational activities such as rafting, swimming, fishing and boating. Nearby activities include the Skowhegan Fair, which is the nations longest running agricultural fair and is Maines largest outdoor event. This event is usually held in August each year in the town of Skowhegan, which is only 14 miles from Clinton. The historic capital of Augusta makes a good day trip from Clinton, where you can visit the many historical and cultural attractions, including Blaine House, which is the Governors Mansion. Clinton is a charming, quintessential New England town, home to many wonderful community events all throughout the year.

Clinton Weather & Climate

The south-central portion of Maine, just north of Augusta, has four delightful seasons with spectacular foliage in the autumn months. The overall climate is moderate with summer daytime temperatures in the 70s and low 80s, and cool nights. Winters are cold but usually not frigid. Spring and autumn are mild during the day, with crisp, cool nights. The really cold weather begins arriving around the end of November with January and February generally having the lowest temperatures. Below zero temperatures are possible, but not the norm. Accumulating snow is a possibility into March and early April, but the warmer days of spring generally means it melts fast. Rain can occur anytime of the year.
