Freedom
is a small town of less than 1,000, located in south central Maine, approximately 45 minutes to the coast. Part of the Upper Kennebec and Moose River Valley region, the town of Freedom offers abundant and varied outdoor recreational opportunities for visitors. Wooded hills and mountains, pristine lakes and rivers can all be found here, along with cross country skiing and snowmobiling, hiking, canoeing and kayaking, whitewater rafting, fishing, hunting, birdwatching and fall foliage viewing. Cultural and historical attractions abound in the area, as well, and in keeping with the Kennebec Valley’s strong agricultural traditions, you can expect of find many farmer’s markets in the region with everything from fresh produce to medicinal herbs. A short drive takes you to Maine’s central coast and Penobscot Bay. The picturesque community of Belfast is just 15 miles away and offers a unique mix of restaurants, antique shops, boutiques and one-of-a-kind gift shops. Belfast is known for their art galleries and crafts shops and lively waterfront district. Other points of interest near the town of Freedom include Moose Point State Park and the Penobscot Marine Museum. The little town of Freedom is a good place to visit if you’re seeking lots of privacy and quiet time.

The Central Coast of Maine, near Penobscot Bay, has a mild climate with an average annual snowfall of 59 inches and average annual rainfall of 48 inches. Generally summers are mild with temperatures rarely going above 80 degrees. Expect cool weather on most summer nights, especially along the coast where sea breezes can feel quite cool. The humidity level is usually of no consequence due to the mild temperatures. Winters in Maine are cold but not frigid. Snow melts frequently along the coast %u2013 winter enthusiasts will find more snow on the ground for longer periods of time inland. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month. Fog is common during Jun, Jul and Aug.
