Cape-Elizabeth
is located in Cumberland County approximately five miles southeast of Portland near Old Orchard Beach and the Atlantic seacoast. The town is most well known for being home to Crescent Beach State Park and the Portland Head Light, which is the most photographed lighthouse in the world, and the oldest lighthouse in Maine. The former "Keeper's Quarters" in the lighthouse have been turned into a museum and gift shop. The town of Cape Elizabeth sits on a peninsula that juts twelve miles into the open sea, rimmed by craggy shores and sandy beaches. It marks the entrance to picturesque Casco Bay. Crescent Beach State Park contains oceanfront beaches, saltwater coves, grassy sand dunes, and wooded areas that provide outdoor recreation such as swimming, fishing and boating, shelling, windsurfing, hiking, picnicking, sea kayaking and much more. The parks signature feature is a mile-long, crescent-shaped beach ideal for strolling and sunbathing, where relatively warm waters and light surf make it excellent for swimming and boating. Nearby Higgins Beach is popular among sea kayakers and surfers, and Old Orchard Beach, with its' "Coney Island" amusement park atmosphere, is just a few miles from Cape Elizabeth. Cape Elizabeth is host to an annual Labor Day Art Show, and the Cape Elizabeth Family Fun Day is held at Fort Williams during the end of June each year, and is a fun-filled day of games, live music, food, rides and fireworks.

The Portland area, along the southern seacoast, has very pleasant summers and falls, cold winters and changeable springs. Very few summer nights are too warm and humid for comfortable sleeping. Autumn has the greatest number of sunny days and the least cloudiness. Winters can often extend into normal springtime. Heavy seasonal snowfalls of over 100 inches occur about every 10 years. True blizzards are area in Maine. Although cold, temperatures in this part of Maine are generally not as frigid as further north in the state. Cold waves sometimes are accompanied by strong winds, but extremely cold temperatures are usually accompanied by light winds. Fog along the coast is sometimes a factor in the weather during the summer months of June, July and August.
