Belgrade-Lakes
is a small town in the south central portion of Maine, just a few miles northwest of Augusta and approximately 3 hours north of Boston. Noted for being the place where "On Golden Pond" was written, Belgrade Lakes is a tranquil recreation haven for visitors. The Belgrade Lakes region is renowned for its chain of seven lakes, its woodlands and fantastic fishing, swimming and other water sports. It is also home to a championship 18-hole golf course that was voted one of the top five public courses by Golf Digest. There are plenty of good hiking trails that overlook Maine's central lake district, as well as bike tours, kayaking and canoeing, birding, wildlife watching, antiquing and shopping. Belgrade Lakes also offers a variety of local special events throughout the year, such as music festivals, arts and crafts fairs, bingo, public auctions and a loon-calling contest! You will find outdoor concerts at nearby Lake Messalonskee, and other cultural events at the neighboring communities of Waterville, Augusta and Skowhegan.

The south-central portion of Maine, just north of Augusta, has four delightful seasons with spectacular foliage in the autumn months. The overall climate is moderate with summer daytime temperatures in the 70s and low 80s, and cool nights. Winters are cold but usually not frigid. Spring and autumn are mild during the day, with crisp, cool nights. The really cold weather begins arriving around the end of November with January and February generally having the lowest temperatures. Below zero temperatures are possible, but not the norm. Accumulating snow is a possibility into March and early April, but the warmer days of spring generally means it melts fast. Rain can occur anytime of the year.
