South-Paris
is located in picturesque Oxford County in the western foothills of Maine. The town of South Paris is part of "Oxford Hills," which is comprised of eight towns nestled in a region of mountains, rivers, and 33 pristine lakes and ponds. This is a four season recreational area that has strong community ties made up of families that have lived here for generations, as well as those who came here to vacation and decided to make it their home. The fun starts in spring when the fishing season officially opens on April 1st. Small and large mouth bass, trout, perch and landlocked salmon are some of the species in South Paris' lakes, rivers and streams. Summer brings all kinds of water activities, such as swimming, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, motor boats and more. There are two golf courses located in the Oxford Hills, and the Oxford Plains Speedway is located on Route 26 in Oxford County. Fall, of course, brings spectacular color to the mountains, and the weather is perfect for hiking and mountain climbing. South Paris is surrounded by some of the finest ski areas in the state, with hundreds of miles of trails and hiking paths. Snowmobiling and snow shoeing are also popular sports. You'll find an abundance of fine restaurants in the South Paris area, and everything from hotels, country inns and bed & breakfasts to fit every budget.

Western Maine near the New Hampshire state line enjoy four distinct seasons that typifies the best of a New England climate. There's plenty of clear, sunny weather with cool nights in the summertime, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Extreme humidity in summertime is usually not a problem because temperatures are so mild. Fall is spectacular - crisp, mild days and cold nights, perfect for sightseeing. Winter begins in Maine around Thanksgiving, with January and February being the coldest months. The average annual snowfall is around 85 inches and winter temperatures vary from the mid-30s to below zero. Most snowfall occurs in eight to ten measurable storms of 6 inches to a foot. In the last fifteen years, the largest single snowstorm amount was 16 inches. Temperatures begin to increase in March, along with an increase in humidity, which often results in snowstorms until mid-April.
