Norway
is a small town located in the western hills of Oxford County, Maine. The mountains, lakes and rivers of the surrounding area provides ample hiking and biking trails, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Golf is available at several nearby country clubs, and the famous Oxford Plains Speedway is less than five miles from Norway. In autumn, the hills around Norway turn brilliant red, gold and orange, making this an exciting time to visit and explore the small towns and backroads of western Maine, searching for antiques and handmade collectibles. Wintertime brings alpine and cross -country skiers to nearby Sunday River Ski Resort. Downtown Norway is an interesting mix of old and new, and for decades, Norway was where farmers came to trade and laborers worked at one of several wood-turning mills in town. Today, several historic homes are open for tours, including the Dr. Augustus French House, Tucker Block, the Denison-Hathaway House, and also the Norway Opera House. The architecture is a mix of different styles and constructed of wood and brick, and is some of the best examples of the period to be found in Maine. This charming village set among the hills and lakes of western Maine is a quiet and peaceful vacation retreat.

Western Maine near the New Hampshire state line enjoy four distinct seasons that typifies the best of a New England climate. There's plenty of clear, sunny weather with cool nights in the summertime, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Extreme humidity in summertime is usually not a problem because temperatures are so mild. Fall is spectacular - crisp, mild days and cold nights, perfect for sightseeing. Winter begins in Maine around Thanksgiving, with January and February being the coldest months. The average annual snowfall is around 85 inches and winter temperatures vary from the mid-30s to below zero. Most snowfall occurs in eight to ten measurable storms of 6 inches to a foot. In the last fifteen years, the largest single snowstorm amount was 16 inches. Temperatures begin to increase in March, along with an increase in humidity, which often results in snowstorms until mid-April.
