Seal-Cove
is a small community that is part of the larger township of Tremont, located on the quiet, southwestern side of Mount Desert Island in "Downeast" Maine. Home to Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island consists of thick forests, marshlands, mountains and scenic, rugged coastline. Acadia National Park comprises approximately 30% of the township of Tremont and 50% of neighboring Southwest Harbor. The outdoor recreational opportunities in Seal Cove are endless. Hiking trails range from rugged and challenging to gently sloping paths at the water's edge. Biking is also popular on the island, and the western side has a network of unpaved roads known as the Western Mountain Fire Roads that are located just off Seal Cove Road. Boating and fishing for white perch, yellow perch and brown trout is available in Seal Cove Pond, and other recreational opportunities in the area include kayaking, canoeing, golf, island cruises, whale watching, and snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the wintertime. Seal Cove is also home to the Seal Cove Auto Museum, a collection of over 100 antique cars and 30 motorcycles, located in a structure that has beautiful views across Seal Cove Pond to Acadia Park.

Seal Cove Weather & Climate
The easternmost area of the United States is Washington County, Maine, which is also one of the most remote areas of Maine. There are four seasons, although summers are very mild and air conditioning is not necessary in this part of the state. The greatest rise and fall of tides on the shores of the continental U.S. occur along the Washington County coastline, and it is the first place in the country to see the sunrise each day. The Maine coastal climate receives lots of precipitation - in every form. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month of the year. The average annual rainfall is 48 inches and the average annual snowfall is 61 inches. Snow does not stay on the ground as long along the coast as it does further inland and in northern Maine. There are plenty of clear, sunny days in summer and fall, followed by crisp, cold nights. Fog is common during June, July and August.
