Bridgton
is located in the less populated Cumberland County of Maine at the foothills of the White Mountains, and near Long and Highland Lakes. It is a four-season resort area, surrounded by beautiful mountains and crystal clear lakes and ponds - perfect for the outdoor enthusiasts. This area is known as the "Greater Bridgton Lakes Region of Western Maine," and is filled with activities for people of all ages. You will find fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing and sailing, and some of the lakes in the region allow motor boats and jet skis. There are miles and miles of unspoiled trails for hikers, both experienced and beginners. And, when the spectacular colors of fall arrive, it's perfect for apple picking at nearby farms, exploring the back roads and small towns, antique shops and historic sites of the area. In wintertime, skiing is five miles away at Shawnee Peak at Pleasant Mountain. Cross-country skiing is also available. Restaurants are plentiful in the Bridgton area, serving everything from freshwater fish to seafood. And, lodging is also abundant and varied, with beautiful country inns, cozy bed and breakfasts and family style hotels and motels.

Western Maine near the New Hampshire state line enjoy four distinct seasons that typifies the best of a New England climate. There's plenty of clear, sunny weather with cool nights in the summertime, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Extreme humidity in summertime is usually not a problem because temperatures are so mild. Fall is spectacular - crisp, mild days and cold nights, perfect for sightseeing. Winter begins in Maine around Thanksgiving, with January and February being the coldest months. The average annual snowfall is around 85 inches and winter temperatures vary from the mid-30s to below zero. Most snowfall occurs in eight to ten measurable storms of 6 inches to a foot. In the last fifteen years, the largest single snowstorm amount was 16 inches. Temperatures begin to increase in March, along with an increase in humidity, which often results in snowstorms until mid-April.
