Naples
is a pleasant town whose motto is "The Heart of the Lakes Region." It sits on the northern edge of beautiful Sebago Lake in Cumberland County right along Highway 302. This area is the foothills region of the White Mountains and is surrounded by several crystal clear lakes, streams and "ponds," making it a wonderful four-season recreational playground. Some refer to the area as "The Greater Bridgton Lakes Region of Western Maine." Sebago Lake is the state's second largest lake and includes a 1400-acre State Park located on the north shore which opened in 1938. It is one of the five original state parks in the state of Maine. The well known Sebago Lake offers miles of boating and other lakefront activities, including parasailing and windsailing, swimming, fishing, jet skiing, and even seaplane rides and tours on board the paddlewheel boat "Songo River Queen II." The town of Naples contains Songo Lock, which was constructed in 1830 to allow the passage of boats from Harrison down through the Cumberland Oxford Canal to the city of Portland. The hand-operated lock is the only one remaining of the 27 locks built in the 1830s. Aside from lake activities, you will find miles of hiking trails in the Naples area, biking, golf and miniature golf, rock hounding, shopping and dining. Although Sebago Lake is Maine's second largest lake, the entire area retains an appealing small-town feel with antique shops, sightseeing along country backroads and small town craft shows.

Western Maine near the New Hampshire state line enjoy four distinct seasons that typifies the best of a New England climate. There's plenty of clear, sunny weather with cool nights in the summertime, with occasional showers and thunderstorms. Extreme humidity in summertime is usually not a problem because temperatures are so mild. Fall is spectacular - crisp, mild days and cold nights, perfect for sightseeing. Winter begins in Maine around Thanksgiving, with January and February being the coldest months. The average annual snowfall is around 85 inches and winter temperatures vary from the mid-30s to below zero. Most snowfall occurs in eight to ten measurable storms of 6 inches to a foot. In the last fifteen years, the largest single snowstorm amount was 16 inches. Temperatures begin to increase in March, along with an increase in humidity, which often results in snowstorms until mid-April.
