Beech Hill Pond is a beautiful, four and a half-mile long, spring-fed lake located in “Downeast Maine” near Acadia National Park. It makes a relaxing vacation spot for anyone wanting to explore the Downeast Maine area, without the crowds of the National Park. The setting for Beech Hill Pond couldn’t be prettier – the crystal clear water is surrounded by peaceful mountains, with a nice, flat, sandy area at the water’s edge that is perfect for sunning or playing in the sand. Just a few of the activities available at Beech Hill Pond are swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing or just relaxing and enjoying the views. For sightseers, a thirty-minute drive takes you to Mount Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park, which is the oldest national park on the East Coast. This amazing island features unusual geological formations, rugged coastal scenery, nature and wildlife, scheduled events inside the park, boat cruises, hiking trails and much more. The town of Bar Harbor is also located on Mount Desert Island and offers visitors a charming shopping district with unique shops, art galleries and restaurants. However, if you choose to stay closer to the Beech Hill Pond area, the village of Ellsworth is only a few minutes away and also has shopping and restaurants, including fresh clam chowder and lobsters right off the boat.

Maine enjoys four distinct seasons. In the Penobscot Valley region, near the city of Bangor, there is plenty of clear, sunny weather in summer, with nights cool enough to provide a welcome relief from the warm days. Brisk, sunny days and cool nights in September prepare for what is the favorite season for many in Maine %u2013 the spectacular colors of fall. Temperatures continue to cool through October and November, with wintry weather returning around Thanksgiving. Cold weather settles in around the Penobscot Valley around Thanksgiving. January and February are generally the heart of winter. Below zero temperatures are possible, but infrequent and usually do not last for any long period of time. Temperatures begin to increase in March, with a corresponding increase in humidity. The Bangor area receives approximately 85 inches of snow a year, most of it occurring in eight to ten measurable storms per year.
