Alexander
is a tiny town located in beautiful Washington County on Maine's picturesque northeastern coast. Called "Sunrise County," because it is the first area of the United States to see the sunrise every morning, Washington County is also one of the most remote parts of Maine. What attracts visitors to Alexander is it' setting, the unspoiled natural beauty of forest and ocean, the wildlife and historic sites. This is an area where you can walk for miles on a forest trail, or on the salt-sprayed shoreline and never see another soul. It's not for those looking for the busy, crowded tourist spots of other Eastern seaboard cities, but what Alexander does offer is clean fresh air, unparalleled beauty and peace and quiet. Washington County is 85 percent woodland, with hiking, boating, swimming, beachcombing, fishing, hunting and camping are all popular sports. It's also a great place for birdwatchers, rockhounds, and amateur botanists, photographers and artists, who love the ever-changing scene of the beaches and rocky cliffs that form the boundary between land and sea. Alexander is near Cobbscook Bay State Park, and also has a public boat launch on Pocomoonshine Lake and an excellent sporting camp.

Alexander Weather & Climate
The eastern seacoast of Maine near the Canadian border has an extreme oceanic climate with cool temperatures, wind and fog. Fog is especially likely to form when warm, moist air meets the cold air here. The fog and wind help spread the boggy growth over the thin soil and rocky outcroppings of the area. Washington County is the first spot in the United States to see the sunrise every morning, and does not have the severe snowfalls or frigid cold of the other northern Maine regions. The coast does receive a lot of precipitation, however, in the form of rain, ice and snow. Summers along Maine's eastern seaboard are very mild, with chilly nights and daytime highs rarely going above 80 degrees F. A good place to escape to when the summer heat elsewhere becomes unbearable.
