New-Limerick
is a village of approximately 500 residents, located in Aroostook County in the upper northeast portion of Maine. The town is conveniently located along Interstate 95, just west of the town of Houlton. Aroostook is Maines largest and northernmost county, 89 percent forestland and full of natural, cultural and recreational resources that make for an exciting vacation in any season of the year. More than 2000 lakes, rivers and streams provide endless opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking and white water rafting. You can hike along country back roads or wooded trails, cross-country ski and snowmobile through some of the most beautiful winter landscape found anywhere in the country. Ice fishing, sledding, snowboarding and downhill skiing are also available near New Limerick. Aroostook is called "The Country" by the people of Maine, where things are "the way Maine used to be." New Limerick's closest neighbor is the town of Houlton, which is also the county seat and the oldest community in the county. Here you will find restaurants and lodging, and several special events throughout the year such as the Moose Stompers Weekend in February and the Houlton Arts & Crafts Fair in July.

Maine's Northeast corner has four seasons and the weather is highly changeable -- it can go from sunny to stormy in short order. Summers near the Canadian border are cool, with highs in the 70s or sometimes reaching the low 80s. Interior areas experience a greater range of temperatures in the summer, but some nights in northern areas are still near freezing. Winters in Maine are cold - sometimes even frigid. January temperatures range from 11 to 31 F along the coast and 1 to 19 F inland. The snow is lovely, and if you aren't opposed to cold weather, wintertime is a great time to visit Maine. Continuous snow is generally on the ground from December through February and sometimes into March. Daytime highs gradually increase March through May. In September, the spectacular colors of fall blaze and sunny days and cool nights characterize this favorite season of many in Maine.
