East-Boothbay
is a tiny seacoast village located south of Augusta on the banks of the Damariscotta River on the mid-coast of Maine. This secluded, picturesque town is considered part of the larger Boothbay Harbor Region, which is a very popular area with tourists who enjoy the sights and sounds of fishermen hauling in their lobster traps, the cries of seagulls flying overhead, salty sea air and fresh seafood, right off the boat. Activities abound in East Boothbay such as boating and both fresh water and salt water fishing, sailing, sea kayaking and canoeing, hiking, biking, rock climbing, windsurfing and golf. Unique activities to the East Boothbay area include a cruise to nearby Monhegan Island, whale watching and seal watching, photographing the rocky shoreline, visiting area lighthouses or the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The Boothbay Railway Village offers rides on an authentic steam train, an antique auto exhibit, beautiful gardens and more. The neighboring town of Boothbay Harbor is host to an annual Harbor Lights Festival in early December, as well as Windjammer Days in June and a Fishermen's Festival in April. East Boothbay is an easy day trip to Damariscotta Lake State Park, the Rachel Carson Salt Pond Preserve, Pemaquid Beach and Head Light and Camden Hills State Park. Also, just a short 15 minute drive from East Boothbay takes you to the quaint village of Wiscasset, known for its' antique shops.

Mid-coast Maine, east of Brunswick, has an oceanic climate with four seasons. This area has an elevation of approximately 70 feet above sea level and is surrounded by rolling farmlands, forest areas, numerous islands, peninsulas, bays and beaches. Winter temperatures generally range from 0 to 40 degrees F. and while accumulating snow remains a possibility into March and early April, warmer days generally means relatively fast melts. . Ice storms can also occur in winter and early spring. Summers along the coast are cool, with temperatures in the 60 to 80 degrees range. Nights are usually chilly along the coast, year round. Rain can occur in any month of the year, with thunderstorms most common during the spring and summer months. Crisp, sunny days and cool nights make fall one of the most pleasant times of the year along the mid-coast, a very comfortable and colorful time of the year to visit Maine.
