Rumford is located in the western mountains of Maine in the River Valley Region. This area is at the center of Maine's forest industry and is surrounded by the Androscoggin River and numerous crystal clear lakes and streams. The Black Mountain Ski Center is host to many regional competitions and international ski events, as well as being a great family ski center. The Appalachian Trail can be accessed in three areas: Grafton Notch State Park, or off the South Arm Road in Andover and also from East B Hill Road, which is 8 miles from the intersection in Andover.
