Northport
is located along the mid-coast of Maine, between the towns of Belfast and Lincolnville, and approximately 2 hours from Portland. This tranquil rural community is on the Penobscot Bay and has two lakes and several miles of scenic coastline to hike, bike and explore. The town is divided by Highway 1, and has beautiful views on both sides. To the east is Penobscot Bay, Saturday Cove, Little Harbor and Spruce Head. And to the west are Knights Pond, Jackson Hill and Ducktrap Mountain. Northport is probably best known for its dance hall, The Blue Goose, and for its photogenic Victorian seaside community of Bayside. A little further inland, Northport is surrounded by beautiful old farms and hills and ponds. Outdoor activities include fresh and salt water fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, swimming, picnicking, and snowmobiling in the wintertime. Northport is also home to a 9-hole golf course. Camden Hills State Park and various other lakes are a short drive away, for even more outdoors recreational opportunities, and Acadia National Park makes a nice day trip from Northport. The town of Belfast is just three miles from Northport, with its lively waterfront and eclectic mix of shops, galleries and restaurants.

The Central Coast of Maine, near Penobscot Bay, has a mild climate with an average annual snowfall of 59 inches and average annual rainfall of 48 inches. Generally summers are mild with temperatures rarely going above 80 degrees. Expect cool weather on most summer nights, especially along the coast where sea breezes can feel quite cool. The humidity level is usually of no consequence due to the mild temperatures. Winters in Maine are cold but not frigid. Snow melts frequently along the coast - winter enthusiasts will find more snow on the ground for longer periods of time inland. Ice storms are regular in winter and early spring, and rain is frequent in every month. Fog is common during Jun, Jul and Aug.
